Skibo Castle, Dornoch

This private, residential golf and sporting club sits on its own 7,000-acre estate in the Highlands of Scotland. High standards govern the food and accommodations at Skibo Castle. Turnberry Hotel, Turnberry

This impressive Edwardian hotel with its whitewashed facade and distinctive gabled terracotta roof is renowned throughout the world and enjoys views over to the Isle of Arran, the Mull of Kintyre, and also Ailsa Craig. The hotel boasts two championship golf courses, Kintyre and Ailsa, which has hosted the Open Championship on several occasions. Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh

Old Course Hotel

Old Course Hotel, St. Andrews: Visitors to St. Andrews will not fail to notice the Old Course Hotel, situated between the road and the sea, as they enter the city. Golf View Hotel, Nairn

The 4 star Golf View Hotel & Leisure Club is situated overlooking the Moray Firth with gardens leading down to the seashore. Many of its 44 bedrooms have spectacular views over the sea, as does the Conservatory - where you can keep a look-out for the dolphins which can be seen playing in the sheltered waters of the firth. Adjacent to Nairn Golf Club, host of the Walker Cup in 1999, the hotel was home to both the US and GB&I Teams and Officials for the duration of the prestigious event. Marcliffe At Pitfodels, Aberdeen

Set in eight acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in the west end, the recently refurbished Marcliffe recreates the original mansion's atmosphere with its warmth, ease and luxurious charm. There is a range of bedrooms, all of which are decorated to a high standard and furnished in the elegant character of the house. Morangie House Hotel

This fine old Victorian mansion is located at the north end of the Highland town of Tain, one of Scotland's oldest royal burghs. The hotel has been extensively modernized and tastefully decorated to maintain the character of the building. A superb collection of Victorian stained glass windows in many of the public rooms and hallways will be sure to pique guests' interest. The small Ross-shire town of Tain, close to the shores of the lovely Dornoch Firth, has much of interest for visitors. Highgrove House Hotel, Troon

This fine house was converted into a small hotel in 1991 by renowned chef William Costley. Marine Hotel, Troon

Overlooking the 18th fairway of Royal Troon Golf Course and enjoying panoramic views of the Firth of Clyde, across to the Isle of Arran, the Marine Hotel's immaculate staff provide a notable level of hospitality and service. The Marine Hotel, built in 1897, houses the players when Royal Troon hosts the British Open. Almost all of the 72 en-suite bedrooms have views of the golf course and sea. Machrie Hotel

Built approximately 250 years ago as a farmhouse, the Machrie became an hotel about the turn of the century. Piersland House Hotel, Troon

Originally built for the grandson of Johnnie Walker, the founder of the famous Scotch whisky firm, Peirsland House stands opposite one of Troon's golf courses and lies close to the Royal Troon Golf Club. This very popular 19th-century mock Tudor hotel retains many of the features of a private house. Guests can choose to dine in the lounge bar, with splendid lofty ceilings, or in a more elegant restaurant with its own bar area.
